Jackson Obedience Training Club Teaching You To Train Your Dog |
| Tips & Tidbits |
Training your dog should be fun for both you and your dog. The end results will be a dog you can take just about anywhere, a model "citizen", and a dog who is a pleasure to be around. The Jackson Obedience Training Club provides the following Tips & Tidbits to help you in your endeavor of being a good and responsible pet owner.
| 1. Keep your dog's shots
up-to-date in order to maintain a healthy pet. Regular vet visits will keep you and
your vet informed of any conditions your dog may develop between visits and could save
your dog's life. |
| 2. Properly
brushing your dog's teeth on a regular basis will prevent dental problems down the line. |
| 3. Spaying or
neutering your dog provides a healthier life for your dog, can help with some behavioral
problems, and make your dog a better pet overall. |
| 4. Heartworm
prevention is a must in our mosquito infested area. Heartworms can kill a dog, so
visit your vet to learn more about protecting your dog from heartworms. |
| 5. When training
your dog, remember dogs can be like children. One method may work for some and not
for others. Keep this in mind if you run into a difficult training session with your
dog. |
| 6. Finding a good, positive obedience instructor or club lends more to your dog training than just a place to train your dog. These sources provide assistance when you run into problems, other people who enjoy their dogs and dog training, and an avenue to perhaps eventually compete with your dog. |
